Tourist rental licence - how to add the licence number to a short-term rental

Add the regional tourist licence numbers to your holiday rentals to comply with the law when you publish them on the internet or send info to clients. (eg: RTA in Andalusia, VT/UT in Valencia, HUT in Catalonia)

What is a tourist rental licence?

A tourist rental licence is the official registration number that allows a property to be legally advertised and rented to tourists for short stays (typically by the night or week). The licence confirms that the property meets minimum habitability and safety requirements, has been declared for tourist use, and is authorised under regional tourism law.

In Spain, tourist rental registration is managed at regional level, meaning each autonomous community operates its own register with its own rules and licence format.

In areas such as the Costa del Sol (in Andalusia) and the Costa Blanca (in the Valencian Community), any property marketed as a holiday or short-term let must be registered with the regional tourism authority and display its licence number in all advertising.

⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTES

  • A property cannot be publicly advertised as a tourist rental without a licence number

  • The agent is legally responsible for showing that number in listings

  • Rules apply regardless of whether the agent or the owner manages the booking.

How do I include the licence number in my holiday rental listing?

You will find the Tourist Licence No. text box on the [Details] tab of a property listing, underneath the Agency Refs area.

This number will only display on the property when an agent does a search for Short Term Rentals.

  • In ReSales-Online it will display at the top of the property details page beside the system reference number.
